Welcome to Bergn Street!
My name is Rachel Rose Cecilia Berg but you can call me Rachel or Ray for short. Please don’t call me Rach though. (Something about that nickname has never sat well with me, no idea why. Its like eating pickles, YUCK! And yes, I happily accept all “weirdness” associated with such remarks.)
25 years old and a crazy wander-luster with a super bubbly personality… or extremely sassy… I guess it depends on the day really. Originally from Michigan but currently living in Brooklyn, NY with my “tall glass of ginger ale” (his words, not mine) roommate who even joins me on my adventures every now-and-again. I made the leap to the big city when I was 18, venturing out of my small town for college, which is, where my crazy adventure really began. Since then, I have lived in Milan, Italy, traveled to 11 countries, and graduated school with two degrees in Fashion Design and Knitwear Design. I have worked in the fashion industry as a Technical Designer and somehow ended up working in the completely “left-field” industry of Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation, a real eye opener and life changer. You can read more about my timeline here…
Recently, however, I was laid off from my job… yeah, it sucks to say the least, but it was the push I needed to finally start this adventure of mine. Bergn Street has been a project in the making for about 3 years, yet, something always came up. School… Work… Life… You name it and it was my excuse not to follow through. Something about this moment in time is different though. I finally said, “No. This is my starting line. Blow that starting whistle ‘cause I’m moving forward.”
A dear friend of mine gave me this piece of advice, “everything is a matter of perspective” and I took it to heart. Yes, I lost my job and there are 101 stresses to being jobless but it is also an amazing opportunity. I can finally take the time I need to really develop and follow my passions.
So what are my passions?
I am so glad you asked!
It boils down to three very simple things, Exploring, Experiencing, and Evolving.
Exploring the world out your front door, in your backyard, and way, way beyond.
Experiencing adventure, culture, and the highs/lows that make life an amazing roller coaster.
… And last but not least in anyway…
Evolving through the experiences and explorations to becoming the very best version of yourself.
Tall order, I know. But I am up for the challenge! I hope you will join me and even share your own evolution along the way. We all have our own paths but that doesn’t mean ours can’t overlap a couple times along the way, does it?
